Tencent's Reputation Could be Dented by Inclusion on U.S. Defense List -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-08

0307 GMT - Tencent's reputational risk could be worth monitoring, after it was recently added on the U.S. Department of Defense list of companies allegedly linked to China's military, says Nomura. The addition on the list may also hurt the company in the global market, the analysts write in a note. However, despite Tencent being on the list, they reckon that it is unlikely to have any direct impact on its business or operations. The list only affects companies which the Defense Department does business with, they add. Nomura maintains the stock's buy rating with an unchanged target price of HK$500.00. Shares are 2.4% lower at HK$370.60.(amanda.lee@wsj.com)
