Tata Consultancy Services Expected to Post Higher Third-Quarter Net Profit -- Earnings Preview

Tata Consultancy Services is scheduled to report its third-quarter results on Thursday. Here is what you need to know:

 

NET PROFIT: Tata Consultancy Services is expected to post a 12% increase in net profit to 123.95 billion rupees, equivalent to $1.44 billion, for the three months ended Dec. 31, according to a poll of analysts by LSEG. That would compare with 110.58 billion rupees in the year-earlier period.

REVENUE: Third-quarter revenue is estimated to have risen 6.3% to 644.07 billion rupees, according to the LSEG poll.

The stock has fallen 1.7% so far this year, ending at 4,028.2 rupees on Tuesday, following an 8.5% increase in 2024.

 

WHAT TO WATCH:

--Second-quarter profit from its banking, financial services and insurance segment climbed 8.3% from a year earlier to 63.45 billion rupees. Investors will be focusing on the performance of its largest client segment.

--Investors will be also watching closely any dividends the company plans to pay. Tata Consultancy has said the board will consider a payout of an interim dividend on Thursday. The company announced a dividend of 10 rupees a share in October.

--Its workforce stood at 612,724 at the end of September, increasing by 5,726 from the end of June. Investors will be paying attention to any further headcount growth following a decline earlier in 2024.
