Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated at CES 2025 that Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) must redesign its high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips to meet requirements, The Korea Herald reported.
Huang acknowledged the surge in demand for HBMs, driven by the global AI boom, and noted that SK Hynix (KRX:000660) has become Nvidia's main supplier due to its early edge in the market.
Samsung has struggled to pass Nvidia's qualification tests, Huang was quoted by the report as saying.
Shares of Samsung Electronics fell over 2% at market close on Thursday, while those of SK Hynix jumped over 5%.
