DHL's supply-chain business has acquired a division of the market-research firm Inmar Intelligence that specializes in facilitating returns for the online retail industry.
The global shipping company said Thursday that DHL Supply Chain has acquired Inmar Supply Chain Solutions for an undisclosed amount of money, adding 14 return centers and about 800 employees to its North American footprint.
DHL bills the division as a leading provider of returns solutions for the e-commerce industry. With the acquisition, DHL Supply Chain said it's now the largest provider of reverse logistics solutions in North America.
The deal gives DHL Supply Chain new capabilities in product remarketing, recall management and supply chain performance analytics, the company said.
"This acquisition strengthens our existing capabilities, allowing us to offer our customers a single-source solution for their entire supply chain, including the critical and complex area of returns management," Chief Executive Patrick Kelleher said.
The acquisition doesn't include Inmar Intelligence's pharmaceutical reverse distribution business.
