MinRex Resources (ASX:MRR) has reported assay results from its initial surface sampling at the Sunny Corner Project in New South Wales' Lachlan Fold Belt.
The project areas, primarily characterised by historical, sporadic exploration efforts, present potential for new discoveries.
The recently completed field reconnaissance targeted 15 discrete gold and base metal sites identified in a prior geophysical study.
Eight out of these 15 targets have been marked for follow-up work. The high-priority targets identified include Sure Gift, Lagoon Creek, Mitchells Creek, East Napolean, and Bushrangers.
Exploration Manager and Technical Director, Ian Shackleton, remarked, "The confirmation of five high-priority targets through our recent rock chip sampling program highlights the growing potential of our Lachlan Fold Belt tenure."
"These results validate the outcomes of our comprehensive target generation study, providing a strong foundation for advancing our exploration strategy," Shackleton added.
The most noteworthy assay results involved gold and silver concentrations, peaking at 6.73 g/t Au for Mitchells Creek, 6.42 g/t Au for East Napolean, and 298 g/t Ag along with 2.85 g/t Au for Lagoon Creek.
The findings underscore the priority given to further soil sampling and mapping activities at the prospects.
The information affirms MinRex's commitment to a detailed systematic exploration approach at Sunny Corner, aiming for substantial discovery opportunities.
Further exploration activities, including grid-spaced soil sampling and geological mapping, are set to advance the assessment of these high-priority targets.
