Singapore Banks May Report Softer 4Q Earnings -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-15

0240 GMT - Singapore banks' 4Q earnings will likely come in seasonally softer, CGS International analysts write in a note. Business activities fell amid more leisure travel and year-end activities during the final quarter of 2024, they say. The banks' net interest margin performance is expected to be mixed, with DBS Group likely posting a small expansion, while Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. and United Overseas Bank may report NIM declines, they add. Fee momentum may have also slowed, while market-related treasury income could be less exuberant, they note. CGS maintains a neutral rating on Singapore's banking sector. (amanda.lee@wsj.com)
