Fiera Capital said it has acquired 6,650 acres of private timberlands in the U.S. as it looks to tap directly into its end market.

The Canadian independent asset management firm said that through its affiliate, Fiera Comox Partners, it acquired the estate in coastal Oregon, a key softwood producing region of mostly Douglas Fir.

Fiera Comox Chief Executive Antoine Bisson-McLernon said the acquisition provides geographic diversification and direct exposure to the U.S. end-product market.

No financial details were disclosed.
