SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings (TYO:9412) has contracted Thales Alenia Space to build the JSAT-32 geostationary communications satellite, according to a Monday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
JSAT-32, operating in the Ku and Ka bands, will cover Japan and nearby seas with spot beams for mobility services. It will replace existing SKY Perfect JSAT satellites.
Thales Alenia Space will design, build, and deliver the 3.7-ton satellite on its Spacebus 4000 B2 platform. Launch is expected in 2027, with a lifespan of over 15 years.
SKY Perfect JSAT shares were up nearly 5% in morning trade Tuesday.
