The ‘Internet celebrity’ product Manus’s parent company Monica has completed a new round of financing led by Tencent.

Tencent had been discussing investment with Monica’s team last year, and now the entire investment has been completed. This is Tencent‘s second collaboration with Monica’s founder Xiao Hong. Previously, their first entrepreneurial project, Weiban Assistant, also received investment from Tencent.

In addition, there are reports that ByteDance offered $30 million to acquire Monica in 2024. However, negotiations fell through because Monica believed the price was not fair enough.

Monica is associated with Beijing Red Butterfly Technology Co., Ltd., established in July 2023, with Feng Qionghua as the legal representative and fully owned by Butterfly Effect (Hong Kong) Limited. Monica operates Beijing Butterfly Effect Technology Co., Ltd., established in April 2022, jointly owned by Feng Qionghua and Xue Fengying. According to change records, Xiao Hong withdrew from the company’s shareholders in March 2023.

In addition, Xiao Hong was also once associated with Wuhan Nightingale Technology Co., Ltd. He withdrew from the company’s shareholders in December 2024. The financing history shows that the company received four rounds of financing, with investors including Tencent, ZhenFund, Mininglamp Technology, etc.
