Venbook gets Crum & Forster capacity to launch A&H platform

March 14 - (The Insurer) - Venbrook Group has secured capacity from Crum & Forster to write a portfolio of accident and health business, starting with an international travel program led by market veterans Curt Carlson and Eric Adair.

The newly launched international travel offering is the first direct-to-consumer product offered by Venbrook.

Initially, the program offers two plans to non-U.S. citizens visiting the U.S. These are Venbrook Premier - Travel Medical URC and Venbrook Basic - Travel Medical URC.

“As a new MGA with C&F's A&H division, Venbrook will expand its service offerings and capabilities across its divisions, leveraging the firm's expertise to deliver new and innovative travel solutions for its clients,” Los Angeles, California-headquartered Venbrook said.

Crum & Forster holds an A financial strength rating from AM Best. The carrier is one of the insurance subsidiaries of Canadian conglomerate Fairfax Financial.

Carlson has been appointed senior vice president of Venbrook’s new accident and health practice, while Adair has been named vice president.

In his new role, Carlson will report to Alison Meyers, executive vice president and head of retail benefits.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Carlson joined Venbrook last June. He previously seven years at Trawick International and 19 years at Seven Corners – both travel insurance specialists.

Adair also joined Venbrook last June, having previously served as head of underwriting at Trawick International. Before joining Trawick International in late 2020, Adair spent six years at International Medical Group. His career also includes time at Seven Corners.

“C&F is an historic insurance company,” said Jason Turner, Venbrook’s founder and CEO.

“This agreement gives us a tremendous opportunity to offer our clients even more bespoke products and solutions that can fit a multitude of needs across all our verticals now and in the future,” Turner added.

Independently owned Venbrook has operations within the retail broking, wholesale broking, programs and claims services sectors.

The company can trace its history back to the formation of CalPro Brokerage in 1995. Venbrook Insurance Services, a retail brokerage, was established in 2000, before Venbrook Group was then launched in 2006.
