Consumer stocks were mixed premarket Tuesday as the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) was down 0.03% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) recently advanced by 0.5%.
McCormick (MKC) shares fell nearly 5% after the company reported a decline in fiscal Q1 adjusted earnings, also missing analysts' expectations.
Smithfield Foods (SFD) shares were up nearly 2% after the company reported fiscal Q4 adjusted earnings from continuing operations of $0.52 per diluted share and revenue of $3.95 billion.
Bunge Global (BG) shares were 0.03% higher after the company said it has agreed to sell its European margarine and spreads business to Vandemoortele, a family-owned food group in Europe.
