Apple (AAPL) and Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google are facing new regulations after Utah Governor Spencer Cox signed Wednesday the App Store Accountability Act, along with 99 other bills as part of a general legislative session.

The new law requires Apple's and Google's application stores to verify the age of its users and impose a parental permission requirement on those under 18 for certain applications, according to multiple reports.

The new regulation is set to take effect on May 7, CNBC said.

Apple and Google did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
