Dow Jones2025-03-27

1829 ET - General Motors is forecast to be the market leader in 1Q, with all the company's brands are expected to deliver solid growth, Cox Automotive says. Cox forecasts GM sold 656,450 vehicles, up from 590,055 in 1Q 2024. Others gaining sales in the quarter included VW, which is expected to have moved 153,268 vehicles, up from 144,529 in the year-ago period, and Daimler, which is expected to have moved 99,746 vehicles in 1Q, up from 82,623 in 1Q 2024. Stellantis is estimated to have seen sales drop to 279,752 in the quarter, down almost 16% from the 332,541 vehicles sold in the year-ago period, which would result in an almost 1% decline in market share, Cox says. Tesla is also likely to decline, with market share falling below 4%, Cox forecasts. (stephen.nakrosis@wsj.com)
