Cintas said it has terminated discussions about a potential purchase of UniFirst, which has rejected previous approaches from workplace products maker

In January, Cintas said it made an offer for uniform supplier UniFirst valued at about $5.3 billion.

Cintas said Monday that it engaged with UniFirst and its advisers during the past several weeks.

"While we continue to believe in the merits of a transaction, we were unable to have substantive engagement with UniFirst regarding key transaction terms," Cintas said. "We do not believe further discussions are warranted at this time."
