Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Rise After Midday

Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV were higher Monday afternoon. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) added 1.6%.

US equity indexes rose alongside government bond yields amid expectations that the Trump administration would implement a less strict tariff policy than investors had anticipated.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) rose 1.2% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) was up 1.1%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) gained 1.8%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) also advanced.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) climbed 3.6%, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) added 3.4%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) was up 1.5%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) surged 4.6%, and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) declined 4.3%.

Commodities

Crude oil rose 1.2%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) gained 1.2%. Natural gas dropped 0.7%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 0.2% lower.

Gold was 0.2% lower on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) shed 0.4%. Silver was fractionally down, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was down 0.2%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) was 0.3% higher; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) also edged up.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) added 3.2%; retail fund VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) was up 1.9%, and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) advanced 2.6%.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) was 0.6% higher, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) climbed. IShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) added 0.9%.

Industrial

Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) was up 1.5%. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) also increased.
