ING Groep NV (ING) said Friday it considers the demands in a lawsuit filed by environmental nonprofit Milieudefensie as "unrealistic and unreasonable."
"ING must clearly report all emissions for which the company is responsible, but must also halve those emissions," Milieudefensie said in the suit, according to Bloomberg News.
"We share the concern about the climate but differ in opinion on what action that requires," ING said, adding that the nonprofit announced its plans to file the suit a year ago.
ING is working with clients to lower emissions and finance sustainable projects, the Dutch bank said in an emailed response to MT Newswires.
"The demands so far do not reflect the role of a bank in the transition and do not support the systemic change that needs to happen," ING said.
