Market Chatter: Boeing Attempts to Walk Back Plea Deal With Justice Department

MT Newswires Live03-25 09:52

Boeing (BA) Boeing is attempting to withdraw its plea deal with the Justice Department over alleged deception of federal regulators concerning the safety of its 737 MAX jets, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The plane maker and defense contractor is attempting to secure a more favorable deal over its alleged failures with President Donald Trump's Justice Department, the report said.

Boeing and the Justice Department are negotiating terms of a new settlement, which may forego the need for the outside compliance monitor proposed under the previous deal, the report said.

Boeing did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
