BOE Could Cut Rates Four More Times in 2025, Says Barclays -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-31

0833 GMT - The Bank of England could cut interest rates four more times in 2025, as U.K. labor-market data likely weaken in the coming months, Barclays U.K. chief economist Jack Meaning says in a note. "We continue to expect weaker labor market data than the [BOE's] monetary policy committee forecasts and reduced uncertainty on the inflation outlook in the middle of the year to lead it to cut Bank Rate four more times in 2025, to 3.5%," he says. Money markets currently price in just two more 25 basis-point interest-rate cuts from the BOE this year, LSEG data show. (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
