0824 GMT - Anglo American Platinum's Mogalakwena mine in South Africa is a flagship asset that continues to be improved, Berenberg analysts write in a note. The analysts visited the mine last week and said they were "broadly impressed" by managements optimisation efforts which will lower costs and help the miner weather ongoing weakness in platinum group metal prices. Mogalakwena has 86 years of reserve life--which measure the resources that can be extracted for profit-- and a potential total resource life of over 150 year, they write. It will deliver higher volumes and lower unit costs from the late 2020s into the early 2030s, they add. Anglo American shares trade down 3% at 2,186.50 pence while Amplats' shares trade down 1.45% at 73,462 South African cent. (adam.whittaker@wsj.com)
