Apple (AAPL, Financials) released its iOS 18.4 update on Monday, introducing expanded Apple Intelligence capabilities and support for additional languages, including Chinese, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and localized English for Singapore and India. The update also grants European Union users access to Apple Intelligence features on iPhones and iPads.
Even with these improvements, the update didn't include Siri, which confirms Apple's earlier statement that it would take longer than expected to make changes to its virtual helper. As part of a change in leadership, Apple put Mike Rockwell, who was previously in charge of the Vision Pro business, in charge of developing Siri. He will now answer straight to software chief Craig Federighi. This means that AI head John Giannandrea will no longer be in charge of developing Siri.Recently, Apple's stock went down because of the delay in adding improvements to Siri. This brought the price closer to what Citi analysts call the "bear-case scenario." Citi analysts, led by Atif Malik, kept their "buy" rating on Apple shares, saying that the current risk-reward picture looks good. They think Apple will talk about Siri next week on its earnings call and before the Worldwide Developers Conference on June 9.In iOS 18.4, there are improvements to the Photos app, AI-powered priority warnings that show up as important notes on the home screen, and a new recipes area for News Plus users. You can get these fixes for iPadOS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.4.
