CenterPoint Energy (CNP) said Thursday it has proposed a plan to decrease electricity bills for Houston-area residents while addressing statewide energy needs.
The company outlined a strategy to remove charges tied to emergency generation units from customer bills, potentially reducing monthly costs by up to $2 by 2027.
As part of the plan, 15 large-scale backup generators would be relocated to the San Antonio region by mid-2025 to help meet Texas' growing power demand, the company said.
CenterPoint said the measure would return value to customers who have already paid toward the units and support improvements in grid reliability.
