Credit: ABCThe conversation with Sean Kelly and Andrew Carswell centred around Dutton’s appearance on the Kyle And Jackie O Show when he was asked where he would live if he became prime minister, to which Dutton revealed he would live in Sydney in Kirribilli.“That is a question yesterday that he probably shouldn’t have answered and already he’s wise to the fact that those answers you’ve got to let through to the keeper,” Carswell said.Later, Karvelas shared her views saying: “You just kind of say, ‘I don’t know. I’ve never even thought about where I’m going to live. I’ve got an election to fight.’ Right. That’s the answer.”So, let me get this straight — a host of the ABC believes politicians should lie to the media?The fact is Dutton had obviously thought about where he will live if he is elected prime minister, but Karvelas believes he should have lied and said: “I don’t know, I’ve never even thought about where I’m going to live.”You can see the comments by Karvelas and her guests in the video player above.It beggars belief that a journalist is advising an elected leader — someone who wants to run the country — to lie.I am a big fan of Karvelas, but she’s got it wrong on this occasion. How often have voters complained that all politicians do is lie and make false promises? Now, the one time a politician tells the truth, even the ABC is telling them to lie.Or does the ABC think it’s OK to lie when it’s an interview with an FM breakfast show and not a “proper” interview? In fact, in reference to Dutton appearing on The Kyle And Jackie O Show, Karvelas said: “Can I say, always a bad idea to go on that show?”Well, the world has changed and politicians have more avenues to get their messages out to voters now. They don’t have to rely on institutions like the ABC.Of course, Karvelas is right in the fact it can be a double-edged sword as it is easier to be caught off-guard in an interview that starts as a light-hearted chat.Karvelas and her panel are probably right in a political spin sense that Dutton should have avoided the question as his remark about living in Sydney became a distraction, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when the ABC is advocating for our leaders to lie to us.SEB COSTELLO REVEALS WHY HE LEFT NINEJournalist Seb Costello made headlines last year with reports he chased a male into a female toilet while filming a report for Nine’s A Current Affair.While INSIDE MEDIA understands the man was trying to wait out the ACA crew, they finally entered when they were sure no women were in the toilet.Despite that, Nine launched an investigation for what seemed to be a pretty standard “bounce”. Costello and his crew were stood down during the investigation, which had not concluded three months later when Costello made the decision to jump ship.During a recent interview with Costello, I asked him if he was surprised by the lack of support shown by Nine.Journalist Seb Costello talked about why he left Nine when he appeared on McKnight Tonight. I put absolutely everything I’ve got into a story and I do everything I can to fight for the person in the middle of the story. That’s something that’s really important to me,” the likeable reporter replied.And that’s certainly true. Costello has never been afraid to put himself in the middle of a story, including that infamous run-in with Ricky Nixon (you can see that vision in the video player above).What strikes me as odd about the investigation into Costello’s toilet chase is that historically this would have been celebrated by the show. I’ve been in meetings watching this type of footage and the executive producer patting the reporter on the back for a job well done.How times have changed.The big question now is will reporters and crew on ACA feel empowered to chase alleged crooks or will they play it safe and let them get away? Without the backing of the network, you can understand why workers on ACA will play it safe rather than going hard to get the story.This could very well be a defining moment in the show’s history where the attack dog loses its bite.TO THE MAXIt was a glittering premiere in Sydney on Wednesday night for the launch of new streaming service MAX.Despite the fact many guests felt like second-class citizens having to wait in long lines and scramble for seats (myself included), there was an air of excitement as actress Bella Ramsey and her Last Of Us co-stars entered the luxurious State Theatre for a Q&A before a screening of the first episode of the new season.The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey at the Australian launch of streaming service MAX in Sydney. Those shows are leaving the FOXTEL platforms for the new streamer, which has an impressive line-up.But it’s not just HBO content that is moving across to MAX. Fans of The Big Bang Theory might have noticed the show is no longer available on STAN, NETFLIX and Paramount+. While no announcement has been made, eagle-eyed viewers contacted me to let me know.
