Field joins Westfield Specialty's casualty treaty reinsurance team

April 8 - (The Insurer) - Westfield Specialty International has added Nate Field as a class underwriter in its casualty treaty reinsurance team in London, the company said in a statement on Tuesday morning.

The firm said that Field, who is based in London, joins from RenaissanceRe, where he was a senior treaty underwriter for over six years.

Field's 17 years of industry experience includes roles at Tokio Millennium Re and Willis Re. He joined RenaissanceRe in March 2019.

Westfield Specialty currently underwrites 10 lines of business in the US, fourteen in the UK and five in Dubai. It employs more than 400 staff.

The specialty carrier entered the Lloyd’s market in February 2023 via its acquisition of Syndicate 1200 from Argo Group International Holdings, and expects its gross written premium to hit $2 billion in 2025.

Westfield Specialty sees the growth of its reinsurance business as an “important part” of its growth strategy, according to Jeremy Shallow, CUO of Westfield Specialty International.
