Some Home Improvement Stocks Bucking Market Sell-Off -- Market Talk

Dow Jones2025-04-05

1236 ET - There are few stocks making gains among the overall market carnage. Home improvement retailer Lowe's gains 2% and Home Depot is up 0.7%. Earlier this week Evercore ISI analyst Greg Melich wrote that the home improvement sector was looking more promising going into 2025. Some of that could be from more folks thinking of going the DIY route as markets continue to gyrate. While paint maker Sherwin-Williams is currently lower, it too was higher earlier in the session. Melich said professional contractors still need to buy paint and building products, giving it extra pricing power. (patrick.sheridan@wsj.com)
