Societe Generale Appoints William Connelly as Chairman of Board of Directors

Societe Generale said it appointed William Connelly as chairman of the board of directors, subject to his renewal as director at a general meeting on May 20.

The French lender late Thursday said that Connelly--a member of the board of directors since 2017--will succeed Lorenzo Bini Smaghi, who has been chairman since 2015.

"The choice of William Connelly as my successor confirms Societe Generale's commitment to the highest standards of governance, both in terms of method and substance," Chairman Lorenzo Bini Smaghi said.
