MT Newswires Live04-15

Trump Media & Technology (DJT) shares were fluctuating in recent trading Monday after a German filing portal showed a London-based hedge fund recent accumulated a sizable short position in the social media company affiliated with US President Donald Trump.

The shares were currently 0.6% high, after dropping to $18.53 earlier in the day.

The April 14 filing with Germany's Federal Gazette, shows Qube Research and Technology held a short position equal to 2.53% of the available capital shares of Digital World Acquisition, the blank-check company that merged with Trump's social media firm in March 2024.

Based on 220.6 million outstanding Trump Media shares, 2.53% of its outstanding stock would equal nearly 5.6 million shares. Nasdaq data released last week showed short interest for Trump Media on March 31 was 10.7 million shares, down from 12.1 million shares shorted on March 14.

Short interest in Trump Media has fluctuated after it went public with the smallest amount in May 2024 at 4.6 million shares, to a peak of nearly 17.6 million shares in November after Trump was re-elected.

Neither Trump Media nor Qube Research returned messages from MT Newswires seeking comment.
