Tesla's (TSLA) India office is refunding reservation fees to customers who booked the Model 3 in 2016, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing emails from the company.
The emails reportedly state that the refunds are being issued due to the discontinuation of the older Model 3.
Tesla plans to contact customers again once it finalizes new launch plans for India, according to the report.
Previously, Tesla delayed entry into India due to the country's steep import taxes on automobiles, according to Bloomberg.
Shares of Tesla were up 9.8% in recent trading.
