Comcast's spinoff of most of its NBCUniversal cable network offerings will be called Versant, a spokesperson for Versant said Tuesday.
Versant, previously called SpinCo, began the process to find a permanent name in December, the company said in a video posted to its website.
The company said it worked with three branding agencies and considered thousands of names.
The new company is expected to be publicly traded and house cable networks such as USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel. It will also include Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow and Sports Engine.
