Warren Buffett is handing the big question-and-answer session at Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting over to his successor as CEO, Greg Abel.

Devotees of the legendary investor had relished the yearly chance to hear Buffett weigh in on everything from Berkshire's business to the broader economy to life in general.

Buffett surprised the investing world earlier this month when he said at Berkshire's annual meeting that he planned to step down as chief executive at the end of 2025. The company said Buffett will remain chairman of its board of directors.

At Berkshire's next annual meeting on May 2, 2026, Buffett will join other directors seated on the Omaha, Neb., arena's floor as Abel fields questions, the Omaha World-Herald reported Sunday. Debbie Bosanek, Buffett's executive assistant, confirmed the change.

Susie Buffett, Buffett's daughter and a Berkshire director, told the World-Herald that Abel will handle the question-and-answer session because that is how her father wants it.
