-- President Trump will sign executive orders aiming to stimulate the nuclear-energy industry by as soon as Friday, Reuters reported, citing four sources familiar with the matter.
-- The order would look to ease the regulatory process on approvals for new reactors, as well as strengthen fuel supply chains, the report said.
-- A draft summary of the orders noted that Trump will invoke the Cold War-era Defense Production Act, allowing him to declare a national emergency over U.S. dependence on Russia and China for enriched uranium, nuclear fuel processing and advanced reactor inputs, according to the report.
-- Trump previously declared an energy emergency on his first day in office, the result of rising power demand amid a boom in artificial intelligence, the report said. Energy Secretary Chris Wright has said the race to develop power sources and data centers needed for AI is the "Manhattan Project 2," according to Reuters.
