South Korean telecommunication services provider SK Telecom (KRX:017670) slipped to 40th place in the country's brand value rankings in the second quarter, down from 11th, after a data breach exposed USIM data of all 25 million users, Yonhap News reported Monday, citing local brand valuation firm Brandstock.
The breach considerably impacted consumer trust and brand perception.
KT (KRX:030200) rose to the 27th place to become the top telecom brand, while LG Uplus (KRX:032640) ranked 46th, closing in on SK Telecom, the report said.
Shares of SK Telecom rose nearly 1% at market close.
