London Mining Stocks Rise as Investors Assess Tariff Delay -- Market Talk

Dow Jones07-08

0740 GMT - Mining companies are amongst the largest gainers on the London stock market in early morning trade. Significant uncertainty over the future of U.S. tariffs remains. However, investor concerns eased as President Trump stated he remains open to negotiations on deals and postponed the implementation of higher tariffs until at least Aug. 1, Tickmill Group's Patrick Munnelly writes. There is optimism that the deadline might be extended again given Trump's pattern of making threats and then retreating, he adds. Glencore shares rise 1.5%, Anglo American is up 0.9% while Rio Tinto trades 0.4% higher. (adam.whittaker@wsj.com)
