Valterra Platinum Set for Stronger Third Quarter on Rising PGM Prices -- Market Talk

Dow Jones07-18

0748 GMT - Valterra Platinum's third-quarter earnings should improve substantially as production recovers and it gets a boost from rising platinum group metals prices, RBC Capital Markets analysts write. This follows a warning from the miner Friday that it expects a fall in first-half headline earnings due to lower sales volumes and costs associated with its demerger from Anglo American. Average PGM prices are up 24% since the beginning of June and its production is recovering, the analysts write. Its London-listed shares rise 4.3% to 3,630 pence.(adam.whittaker@wsj.com)
