09:43 ET -- The saga post-bid continues with Seven & i placing the blame for the collapsed deal with Canada's Couche-Tard on the suitor's inability to solve critical antitrust hurdles. In a statement, the 7-Eleven parent's special committee says the transaction required "a very significant divestiture," but claims that Couche-Tard never identified a viable strategic buyer that would meet with the regulatory approval. The committee notes the FTC and other state attorneys general showed an "unprecedented level of pre-deal scrutiny," a gravity which it says Couche-Tard failed to fully recognize. Seven & i suggests the regulatory hurdles were fundamental to the deal's failure. (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
