Singapore Central Bank May Adopt Wait-And-See Approach in July -- Market Talk

Dow Jones2025-07-23

0715 GMT - The Monetary Authority of Singapore is expected to adopt a wait-and-see approach in July and keep the door open for easing in October, says DBS senior economist Chua Han Teng in a note. Headline inflation in June was below 1.0% for the fifth straight month, he notes. While the MAS doesn't have an explicit inflation target, it considers core inflation of just under 2% on average to be consistent with overall price stability. DBS estimates 2025 average headline and core inflation for Singapore at 1.0% and 0.8%, respectively. (amanda.lee@wsj.com)
