Singapore Technology Sector Likely Faces Lower Risk of Tariffs -- Market Talk

Dow Jones07-22

0412 GMT - Risks of tariffs on Singapore technology sector appear to have been diminished while still present, says Maybank Securities analyst Jarick Seet in a note. As trade deals are being made globally, especially with China, there is potential relaxation of export curbs for artificial intelligence chips and semiconductor equipment, he says, noting there's still an overhang from potential U.S. semiconductor tariffs. Maybank Securities upgrades its rating on Singapore's technology sector to neutral from negative, and pegs Frencken Group as its top pick for the sector, given its lowest valuation and strong growth opportunities.
