Four Democratic senators are asking the Justice Department's inspector general to probe an antitrust settlement with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and Juniper Networks, Bloomberg reported on Friday.
In June, the Justice Department had announced a settlement with HPE and Juniper just days before the case was set for a trial over antitrust concerns. The deal has now closed, but the settlement still needs a judge's nod, it added.
According to the report, the senators in a letter to Acting Inspector General William Blier, said the settlement indicates "possible politicization of the process" in the way the Justice Department handled the merger review and settlement.
