China's Export Growth Likely Supported by Non-U.S. Market Demand -- Market Talk

Dow Jones08-07

0922 GMT - China's robust export growth in July were buoyed by stronger demand from non-U.S. markets, UOB economist Ho Woei Chen writes in a note. This is a further indication of increased diversification of export destination to avoid higher U.S. tariffs as well as continuing reconfiguration of supply chains for goods to the U.S. market, they say. With China accelerating rare earth exports to the U.S. under the trade framework, UOB expects relatively strong exports in the coming months. Rare earth export volume saw a 13% on-year rise in the first seven months this year, UOB notes. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
