Munich Re's Share Drop After Results Wasn't Justified, Analysts Say -- Market Talk

Dow Jones2025-08-11

0836 GMT - The volatility in Munich Re's share price after the German reinsurer posted half-year results and lowered its revenue guidance on Friday wasn't justified, analysts say. Shares closed 7% lower on Friday, wiping Thursday's gains. The stock is recovering somewhat on Monday morning, trading 1.5% higher. "Although there were plenty of negatives in the detail to warrant some weakness on the day, we think the share price reaction was disproportionate," analyst Darius Satkauskas says in a note. Berenberg's Michael Huttner writes that the current downturn in the reinsurance cycle looks relatively moderate while the company's earnings power remains very strong. (elena.vardon@wsj.com)
