Maravai LifeSciences plans to cut 25% of its workforce.
The company's management committed to the workforce reduction on Friday as part of an organizational restructuring, the San Diego-based life sciences company said Monday.
Maravai is expected to incur restructuring and related costs between $8 million and $9 million. These costs consist primarily of employee severance and benefits costs, the majority of which Maravai expects to recognize in the second half of 2025.
The layoffs come as Maravai posts a wider loss and lower revenue in the second quarter.
The company had a loss of $39.6 million, or 27 cents a share, compared with a loss of $9.79 million, or 7 cents a share, last year. Analysts polled by FactSet expected a loss of 17 cents.
Revenue decreased to $47.4 million, compared with $69.4 million last year. The results were aligned with analyst expectations.
