0213 GMT - Singtel is set to benefit from future tailwinds after a strong 1Q, Maybank Securities' Hussaini Saifee says in a note. The Singapore telecom company's 1Q core business momentum was firm except in the Singapore mobile segment, but it could face a "silver lining" from upcoming consolidation, he says. Meanwhile, he sees signs of a turnaround in the earnings of associated companies Telkomsel and Globe Telecom. Indonesian telecom company Telkomsel's results are likely to reflect higher starter pack prices from 3Q, while Philippines-based Globe's mobile wallet service GCash remains a bright spot, he says. Associates account for about 70% of Singtel's earnings. He maintains a buy rating and S$4.30 target on the stock, which is down 0.3% at S$4.05. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
