South Korea's state-run Korea Electric Power (KRX:015760) will keep the adjusted unit fuel cost unchanged at the highest threshold of 5 won per kilowatt-hour for the October-December period, extending a freeze in place since the third quarter of 2022.
Although lower global fuel prices indicated a slash of 12.1 won, the government instructed Korea Electric Power to maintain the level to improve its finances. Industrial electricity rates were raised 9.7% in October 2024, but household and small business rates remain steady, Yonhap News reported Monday.
Shares of Korea Electric Power rose nearly 2% in recent trade.
