-- BNP Paribas loosened its defence and security sector policy which barred it from "financing the production and trade of controversial weapons," the Financial Times reports citing unnamed sources.
-- The French lender deemed the term "controversial weapons" too broad and updated its policy earlier this year to distinguish between weapons that are allowed under major international agreements and those that aren't, the FT reports.
-- BNP Paribas told the FT that all of its sectoral policies are regularly updated and that "the update of the defence and security policy reflects the group's long-standing commitment to supporting the financing of defence companies, primarily within NATO countries, mostly in Europe."
