European Chip Stocks Rise After OpenAI, AMD Deal -- Market Talk

1110 GMT - Shares in European companies that supply chip-making tools are on the rise after OpenAI and Advanced Micro Devices struck a multibillion-dollar deal to collaborate on AI data centers. That deal comes days after the ChatGPT maker reached an initial agreement with Samsung Electronics to establish AI infrastructure under the Stargate project. Investors welcome these partnerships amid expectations that companies will need to purchase more semiconductor-making tools to produce the chips needed to power AI. Shares in ASML Holding are up 2.1% in Amsterdam. Shares in ASML's smaller rival, ASM International, are up 0.9%. BE Semiconductor Industries, the Dutch supplier of semiconductor assembly equipment, rises 1.7%. (mauro.orru@wsj.com)
