0736 GMT - London's miners lead the FTSE 100 in opening trade as investor attention turns to copper. Anglo American is the index's largest gainer and trades up 3.1%. Chilean copper miner Antofagasta rises 2.7%, Rio Tinto's London-listed shares are up 2.2% and Glencore rises 1.2%. Copper may be the next hot metals trade, and there is a growing consensus that it might surge to record highs, research director at XTB Kathleen Brooks says. Gold has stolen the limelight this year, but the rise of AI means it's copper's time to shine, she adds. LME copper falls 0.5% but CME copper rises 1.7% and SHFE copper jumps 4.3%.(adam.whittaker@wsj.com)
