Jiumaojiu Narrows Same-Store Sales Decline in Q3 as Tai Er's New Model Gains Traction

Jiumaojiu International (HKG:9922) said the year-on-year drop in same-store average daily sales narrowed across its key brands in the third quarter, supported by ongoing operational adjustments and brand upgrades, according to a Wednesday Hong Kong bourse filing.

Shares of the firm were up more than 1% in Thursday morning trade.

Same-store sales at Tai Er fell 9.3% from a year earlier, while Song Hot Pot and Jiu Mao Jiu recorded declines of 19.1% and 14.8%, respectively.

The company said Tai Er's performance improved for the third straight quarter, with sales in cities such as Beijing and Shanghai turning positive.

The group attributed the rebound to its rollout of the "5.0 Fresh Model" restaurants, which focus on live fish, fresh chicken, and fresh beef.

Jiumaojiu said 106 of its Tai Er outlets in mainland China have adopted the model, which has been well received by customers. The company plans to accelerate the rollout, targeting over 200 such restaurants by year-end, according to the filing.
