Grasim Industries Begins Commercial Production of New Paint Manufacturing Unit

Grasim Industries (NSE:GRASIM, BOM:500300) has begun commercial production at its paint manufacturing plant at Kharagpur in West Bengal, India, according to a Wednesday filing to the Indian stock exchanges.

The unit includes a capacity of water-based paint of 180 million liters per annum (MLPA), distemper capacity of 20 MPLA,solvent-based paint capacity of 30 MLPA, and colorants capacity of 6 MLPA. This will cater to the domestic market.

With this, the company's six green-field plants have begun commercial production, and its installed capacity of decorative paints sold under the brand "Birla Opus" has reached 1,332 MLPA.

The company's shares were up 1% in recent trade.
