Panasonic (TYO:6752) is launching water purification systems for Indonesia's livestock farmers, capitalizing on annual double-digit sales growth for its existing products, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday, citing technical advisor at Panasonic Gobel Indonesia Hirofumi Fujita.
The company aims to sell 1,000 units over the next three years by collaborating with local feed companies to reach millions of small farms, the news daily said.
This new initiative is an adaptation of a residential purification product first introduced in 2020, with a more compact model released this year to better suit farm installations, the report added.
The systems, which use chlorine tablets to automatically remove pathogens like E. coli and impurities such as iron from well water, address a critical need in a country where widespread groundwater contamination is a major health concern, the publication said.
