1859 ET [Dow Jones]--Consumers continue to buy chicken over more expensive sources of protein, Pilgrim's Pride CEO Fabio Sandri says. "Chicken demand remained robust across retail and foodservice given its strong value proposition compared to other proteins," Sandri says of the company's latest quarter. Other companies, such as Tyson Foods, have similarly pointed to strong demand for the meat because of its value relative to other meats. Tyson executives said in August that some Americans are opting to buy cheaper cuts, including ground beef and chicken, helping its chicken sales volumes rise more than 2% in its fiscal third quarter.
