Republic Services recorded a smaller profit but slightly higher revenue in the third quarter as it offsets declining volume with higher prices.
The Phoenix-based recycling and waste services company posted a profit of $550 million, or $1.76 a share, compared with $566 million, or $1.80 a share, in the same quarter a year earlier.
Stripping out one-time items, adjusted earnings were $1.90 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet had been expecting $1.78 a share.
Revenue rose 3.3% to $4.21 billion, below analyst targets for $4.25 billion, according to FactSet.
Chief Executive Jon Vander Ark said the company is still dealing with ongoing cyclical volume pressures that it is mitigated by pricing ahead of cost inflation.
Republic Services said it expects revenue to be near the low-end of its 2025 guidance.
